4 Months

<----- This is what Kaleb looked like after he got his shots, and man is he LOUD! He doesn't whine or cry much, but when he does, it is ear piercing! Time is just flying by and he is getting cuter and more fun by the second! Happy to report a healthy baby from his appointment this morning. His doctor pretty much said the usual...'your child is an abnormally good baby'...trust me, i count my blessings. He also said he is extremely strong and active for his age, burning tons of calories, which is probably the reason he is so skinny. He did address his big head again, and said he is almost positive we will be putting him in a helmet to correct his Brachycephaly w/ Plagiocephaly....Basically his head is way flat, and because of the force of the vacuum plus my pelvic bone, his flat spot moved, making it alot harder to correct on it's own. We've done really well with keeping him on his tummy, but it just doesn't seem to be working. So at 6 months he will go in for a evaluation to see if we need a helmet. I'm not too concerned with the helmet, he won't have to be in it that long, and he will still look adorable as ever! Other than all that he is doing great, and we have been so blessed to have him be a part of our family!
Here's his 4 months stats....
14.5lbs - (29th percentile for weight)
26inches - (75th percentile for height)
41 inch head circumference - (97th percentile!)
so we have a tall, skinny, big headed cutie pie! :)

...in love...

Do you remember what it was like when you fell in love with your spouse? How you could never quite verbalize the feeling of how much love you had for that one person?

Well, it's like that feeling all over again but now there's 2 men in my life that i am madly in love with, and somehow i still can't find the words to describe it!

I am such a sucker for these two! I think of how much they look like eachother, and how i can't wait until I can hear Kaleb say 'daddy' and get to see him copy his dad and watch them become best buddies. I am so thankful Jared is the man my son will pattern his life after!

I was on my way home from work the other day and this song came on the radio, which turned me into a ball of tears and blissful gratitude for my boys :)

'I've Been Watching You Dad'

Driving through town just my boy and me
with a happy meal in his booster seat
knowing that he couldn't have the toy
till his nuggets were gone

Green traffic light turned straight to red
I hit my breaks and mumbled under my breath
as fries went a flying and his orange drink covered his lap
well then my four year old said a four letter work
that started with "s" and i was concerned
so i said son, now where'd you learn to talk like that

He said I've been watching you dad, ain't that cool
I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you
and eat all my food and grow as tall as you are
We got cowboy boots and camo pants
yeah we're just alike, hey aint we dad
I wanna do everything you do
so i've been watching you

We got back home and I went to the barn
I bowed my head and prayed real hard
said Lord please help me help my stupid self
Then this side of bedtime later that night
turning on my son's Scooby Doo nightlight

He crawled out of bed and he got down on his kneed
He closed his little eyes, folded his little hands
and spoke to God like he was talking to a friend
and I said son, where'd you learn to pray like that

He said I've been watching you dad, ain't that cool
I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you
and eat all my food and grow as tall as you are
We like fixing things and holding Mama's hand
Yeah we're just alike, hey ain't we dad
I wanna do everything you do
So i've been watching you

With tears in my eyes I wrapped him in a hug
Said my little bear is growing up
He said but when i'm big I'll still know what to do

Cause I've been watching you dad, ain't that cool
I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you
and eat all my food and grow as tall as you are
Then I'll be strong as you and Superman
We'll be just alike, hey won't we dad
When I can do everything you do
Cause I've been watching you

a long time coming

Typical Kaleb Face: Flaring nostrils, and Wide eyes!!
No more tears during tummy time! Happy Happy Baby!!

I really should post more, especially now that I have a sweet little guy t hat I coudl talked about forever!! But, being a mom and going back to work is crazy and really the last thing I want to do when i finally get home is get on the computer and blog! SO here's a quick update with what the Tieman's have been up to......

Jared: BUSY BUSY BUSY with school. He has a very full schedule once again, and all his classes are later in the day, so weekends are really the only time we get to spend time together. After this semester is done, he only has 2 classes left, we couldn't be more excited!!
Becky: BUSY BUSY BUSY with work/church/mommy stuff :) I work mon-fri, so i'm gone from about 7:30 to 5:30. I rush home everyday so I can get as much Kaleb time in before he's down for bed! The weekends are the best ever because I get to be with my boys all day :) I'm still in YW, which I love, but it is way harder planning things with the way my schedule has been.
Kaleb: Best Baby Ever! He is the sweetest, custest, little man! He makes my day, everyday! We are super blessed to have such a happy baby! He LOVES to chew on his blankets/bibs/mom's shirt. He also drools more than i've ever seen a baby do, he soaks his clothes completely! He loves to play with his Dad. He loves bath time. He doesn't hate Tummy Time anymore!!! He is so much fun to play with now that he can really hold his head up, and he has started grabbing at his toys, so now i can actually distract him with his toys instead of just waving them around his face. He also loves to look at the T.V. when food network is on....don't ask me why, maybe it's the colors on that channel, but it's hilarious! I'll face him towards me so we can talk ,but he strains his neck like crazy so he can see the screen...who knows maybe he just loves food like his momma :)

We might have kind of a crazy life right now, but i feel like we have finally gotten used to being parents.... I'm sure something new will come up soon and throw us for a loop :)

Birth Day

Kaleb Joshua Tieman
7lbs and 15ozs
20.5 inches long
6-12-2010 at 12:37am

The Story - warning, it might be pretty long :)

On Thursday, June 10th, Jared and I got to the hospital pretty late at night, around 10:30, so my labor could be induced. After some paperwork and settling into our room, they finally started my labor officially around 1am, on Friday June 11th. They started me by using this gel that goes on the cervix and it's supposed to soften and thin it out so that things start progressing...typically they do 3 rounds of the gel, but they ended up doing 4 on me, because my stupid body just didn't want to cooperate.

I tried to sleep some during this time because my contractions weren't very strong, i could feel them but they weren't causing any real pain. I think i was just too excited to sleep, plus the nurse was in and out of my room every hour or so, so getting sleep wasn't happening for me! We got some visitors around 8am that day, which was kinda nice, something to keep my mind off the fact that nothing was happening! Finally around 11am, they said i was progressing slowly, but at least i was progressing...enough that they were comfortable to start the Petocin drip. At this point the nurse said we probably had a good 8 hours ahead of us, but she said things should really start moving....wrong!
By now my contractions were really consistent and getting painful. They were bearable I guess, but they offered the epidural and i TOOK it! It was wonderful!! I actually got a little sleep here and there after the epidural, but things really weren't moving any faster. Around 2pm, Mckernan came in and broke my water hoping that would finally make me progress faster. They called my labor 'textbook', because i began progressing after 6pm an additional centimeter every hour. Well a textbook labor really sucks then!
Sure enough at 10pm, i was at 10cm dilated. Baby was still pretty high tho, so they thought if I tried pushing a little bit that maybe he would come down with my contractions. He would come down a little with each push but go right back up. He was pretty much just stuck behind my pelvic bone....I don't even think he was crowning at all! I had been in labor so long that my epidural started to wear off, and i was really starting to hurt...luckily they got me a refill and I wa good to go again. I was so exhausted from the lack of sleep, and a little mad that they were having me push and it wasn't doing ANYTHING! I felt like i was just wasting my energy! I pushed for more than 2 hours and it was basically hell!

Mckernan came in ad decided that he needed to come out asap, so he busted out the vaccuum. He got the vacuum on and seriously started pulling SO hard, it was a little freaky looking! He finally got the little man's head and shoulders out and told me to pull him the rest of the way out. So I reached down, grabbed the little slimy dude and plopped him on my chest. It was a HUGE mix of emotions, but i have never been so tired in my life! Kaleb came out on June 12 just after midnight at 12:37am, rocking out to some Led Zeppelin music!

I was in labor for almost 24 hours, had 2 pretty bad tears and plenty of stitches, but it was all worth it. Kaleb had a serious conehead and a nasty war wound from the vacuum...seriously the pictures below don't do it justice. He had some fluid in his lungs, so they had to take him to the nursery. We didn't get into our recovery room until almost 3am, and I barely got to see my little guy. They finally brought him around 4:30, and until we left the hospital on Sunday I don't think i got any sleep. It was the craziest few days, but the best at the same time. I had an amazing husband who supported me the whole time. It's truly amazing having this sweet little guy finally out and being parents!!

Super Tired, but trying to put on a happy face

you can see where the vacuum was at...poor guy

another shot of the battle scars

one happy and super tired family

1 day old, and so ready to go home!

the Final Countdown....

well sort of anyways :) We had an appointment last Friday and were able to take the baby's measurments...again. What do you know, he's still quite large! He was measuring at about 7 and a half pounds, which is a good 2 weeks ahead of where 'normal' is. It puts him right around 10lbs if I was to go to 40 weeks, which my doctor is not conerned about. Apparently, he is confident that i would have no problems pushing out a 10 pound baby, lol! However, the doctor is concerned with the baby's head measurements, which were putting him at 41 weeks! He's got quite the noggin! Basically if I was to continute to my due date, his head would not fit and I would definitley be having a c-section. NO THANKS!
So really, the countdown begins on Thursday, we have another appt. and we will be getting the date that i will be induced. Sounds kind of funny actually, getting told the day your baby will be born :) I was very positive in the beginning of my pregnancy that i would be going into labor naturally, aka, no inducing for this girl...so much for that! :) I will admit, i was a little dissapointed to hear that I would for sure be getting induced, but I have an amazing doctor who I trust completely. And honestly I really do not want to be forced into a c-section if i can avoid it. Whatever is best for me and the little man is what I'm going with!
It's very exciting, but also a little annoying....seriously I can't WAIT for thursday! I can't believe i'm going to get to meet this little guy soon. I have been so blessed with such a wonderful pregnancy, and Jared and I are SO ready to be parents officially!!!
